MACU offers Bible-based liberal arts programs and ministry education. The institution adopted its current name, Mid-America Christian University, in 2003. Eubank formed the Christian College of America of Houston with other pastors. The Gulf Coast Bible College relocated to Oklahoma City in June 1985, and changed its name to Mid-America Bible College. In September 1984 Odus Eubank, the vice president for academic affairs said that he did not want to go to Oklahoma. Not all of the officials wanted to move to Oklahoma.

In 1984 the university announced that it was moving to Oklahoma City. When the college was in the Houston Heights, it tried to establish a campus by buying houses and tearing them down. Additionally, the college also was granted membership on the Commission on Higher Education of the Church of God. The Executive Council of the Church of God accepted the college as a member organization. The Gulf Coast Bible College became a general agency of the Church of God (Anderson) in June 1968.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the regional accrediting association, granted full accreditation in 1978. In 1966, Gulf-Coast Bible College became an associate member of the American Association of Bible Colleges and was granted full membership in 1968. In the fall of 1955, the curriculum of the institution was expanded to that of a four-year university and the name was changed to Gulf Coast Bible College. Gaulke established the institution with the help of the First Church of God.

It was chartered as a center for higher education. The institution, now known as MACU, was founded on September 14, 1953, as the South Texas Bible Institute in Houston, Texas.

Then again in June 2021, Blue Cross of Idaho become the official naming-rights partner of the Blue Cross of Idaho Conference Center.Mid-America Christian University ( MACU) is a private Christian university in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Following in May of 2021 was a partnership with Golden Valley Natural/ Hero Meat Snacks as they came on board as the naming-rights partner for Hero Arena. Idaho Falls Auditorium District (IFAD) announced a long-term naming-rights agreement with Mountain America Credit Union back in 2019. Once completed, the event center will not only host conventions and concerts but also be home to a new Idaho Falls junior hockey team. The 48,000 square foot venue features Hero Arena with available seating up to 6,000 people and the Blue Cross of Idaho Conference Center which boasts a number of flexible seating configurations. Remarks at the May 18 groundbreaking were made by Idaho Governor Brad Little, Idaho Lieutenant Governor Janice McGeachin, representatives from Senator Jim Risch and Mike Crapo’s offices, Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper, IFAD Executive Director Rob Spears, IFAD Board Chair Terry Gazdik and Mountain America’s VP of Sponsorships and Events Jason Smith. The center, a project more than ten years in the making, is being built in Snake River Landing at the corner of Pioneer Road and Event Center Drive. The much-anticipated Mountain America Center in Idaho Falls held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.
